The European Social Network (ESN) is looking for a Communications Assistant (full-time) to support the delivery of our communications and promote the network across Europe and beyond. The role is based in Brussels, Belgium.

ESN is the independent network for public social services in Europe. ESN is a Europe-wide network with 140 member organisations in 36 countries. With members in local public social services across Europe and beyond, we bring together the people who are key to the design and delivery of vital care and support services, to learn from each other, and contribute their experience and expertise to building effective social policy at the European and national level. About the role

The Communications Assistant will support ESN communication team’s day-to-day activities through:

  • Draft and disseminate content for Social Media (Twitter and LinkedIn);
  • Perform day-to-day updates on the ESN database to ensure its optimisation and maintenance (CiviCRM);
  • Update content on the ESN websites regularly (Drupal and WordPress);
  • Assist in the preparation of newsletters (MailChimp);
  • Assist with design and graphics needs (Adobe Suites);
  • Track and report website statistics (Google Analytics) and social media analytics;
  • Assist in event communications;
  • Other communications tasks as assigned.

Person specification

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (other languages are considered an advantage);
  • Relevant degree in communication, marketing, journalism, and/or public relations/or equivalent experience in a similar position;
  • Experience with CRM database maintenance and development (or willingness to learn);
  • Familiar working with Microsoft Office;
  • Familiar with website editing: WordPress and Drupal (or willingness to learn);
  • Familiar with Adobe Creative Suite (or willingness to learn);
  • Attention to detail;
  • Time-management and the drive to deliver to deadlines;
  • Political and cultural sensitivity;
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Offer

Paid internship for a period of six months (with possibility of extension). A full-time position (5 days a week).
