Internship position at MedTech Europe’s External Affairs Team.

  • Description: Assist the Government Affairs function of the External Affairs (EA) Team;
  • Duration: 12 months;
  • Location: Brussels (with a possibility to homework a few days);
  • Desired starting date: 8 November 2021;

Job description

The internship is aimed at recent graduates, such as young MA students, wishing to acquire professional experience in EU public affairs, and more specifically in the healthcare sector. The intern’s responsibilities will provide direct experience working with European and international stakeholders in the healthcare arena, in particular the medical technology industry, healthcare professionals and patient organisations. The ideal candidate would have a drive for the medical technology industry.

The main responsibility of the intern will be to support the day-to-day activities of the Government Affairs function within the External affairs team, as well as the development of the intern’s own projects. As a European trade association based in Brussels representing an innovative industry, MedTech Europe offers a dynamic and multicultural working environment with regular contacts and interactions with its members (medical technology companies and national associations) and other stakeholders active in the EU healthcare arena.

Day-to-day activities will include:

  • Research, monitor and analyse EU policy developments and key topics related to the sector (e.g. EU health policy developments, Digital Health, Environment and Sustainability etc.);
  • Track, attend and report on events and conferences of EU institutions and stakeholders;
  • Coordinate and organise internal meetings, provide draft agendas, minutes, reports and briefing notes;
  • Contribute to the development of industry positions, briefings, and presentations;
  • Support and assist in identifying relevant stakeholders;
  • Collaborate in writing articles for MedTech Europe internal and/or external communication channels and other relevant publications;
  • Provide overall support of the External Affairs Team projects.

The ideal candidate would

  • Hold a university degree in European Studies/Law, Political Science, Communications, or Healthcare Management;
  • Be fluent in English (verbally and with excellent English writing and grammar skills), other EU languages are an advantage;
  • Be digitally and communications savvy and have excellent command of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook;
  • Have a strong command of EU politics and the EU decision-making process (a must); knowledge of the EU’s health policies would be highly desirable;
  • Be a team player who can work proactively and independently;
  • Be creative and keen to work side by side with the Communication function of the External Affairs team;
  • Keen to learn and open to receive constructive feedback.
