Our Digital Content team are looking for a Social Media Manager to join during an exciting period of digital transformation! You will coordinate our social media channels and ensure their content showcase the priority output of Chatham House and adhere to the highest editorial standards. Reporting to the Head of Digital Content, you will act as a brand ‘guardian’ on social media and lead on organic social media marketing, and report on the impact of that work.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a deep understanding of each of the algorithms that underpin the major social media platforms and is not afraid to test new tools, content formats, or channels. You will also have an understanding of paid social media activity.

Main Responsibilities
- Manage daily output and work collaboratively with others in the team and across the house in managing other channels and content production, and ensure organizational priorities are reflected appropriately;
- Support the Director and other senior colleagues in managing their personal social media presence and provide strategic advice on social media projects to senior management;
- Direct our approach on tailored content production for social media, continually developing and maintaining high editorial standards, and ensuring content adheres to brand and style guidelines as appropriate;
- Commission and deliver tailored content for all social media channels, adapting for the different platforms to meet our reach and engagement targets;
- Drive audience growth on key corporate social media channels and manage their communities by monitoring Chatham House mentions and key influencer activity, following relevant topics, and engaging in meaningful conversations as appropriate;
- Work with research teams to showcase priority work, including developing multimedia and new digital outputs as appropriate;
- Work with others in the digital teams and externally to deliver on marketing and evaluation plans, as well as explore opportunities for further outreach and increased engagement;
- Support the organization’s digital marketing framework, working on integrated channel planning to maximise opportunities for deepening engagement with our audiences through a campaign approach;
- Ensure delivery of social media coverage for priority Chatham House events and work with the AV team on planning and delivery as needed;
- Measure and report on performance, using both in-platform analytics and Google Analytics to inform and optimize content, and help shape future strategy.
Requirements
Essential Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience of managing key corporate social media channels;
- Experience of coordinating content specific to social media platforms;
- Experience of adopting a campaign approach, working with a digital marketing framework, and integrated channel planning;
- Excellent working knowledge of using data and Google Analytics, and how to report on the impact of social media activity;
- Excellent knowledge of in-platform analytics for the channels Chatham House are active on;
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy;
- Strong understanding of the media cycle and the risks and opportunities this presents for social media outreach;
- Ability to transform complex information into engaging social media messaging and digital content;
- An enthusiastic team member who is able to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization;
- Demonstrable interest in new technology and formats in social media, with an ability to implement new tools quickly and to a high standard;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a diverse network of internal and external partners.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience in using video editing software, notably Adobe Premier Pro;
- Experience of editing written content;
- Experience of simple web publishing technologies, including knowledge of basic HTML code;
- Experience of using CMS systems (preferably Drupal);
- Photography training.

Salary: £36,000
Contract: Full time (35 hours per week), Permanent.
