Parallel to our expanding business, we are now looking for an enthusiastic team player to join our research team in Brussels as a “Junior Consultant – European Research and Innovation Policy”.

Your workplace environment

You will join a dynamic Policy and Research team that is working on European projects in the areas of research and innovation policy. Our activities consist mostly of economic and policy studies (e.g. impact assessment, evaluations), technical assistance (e.g. management and coordination of European policy networks and stakeholder activities) and consultancy (e.g. business case assessments, strategic advice on regulatory work). Our clients are mainly EU institutions.

What will you be doing?

The successful candidate will contribute to projects in the field of research and innovation (R&I) policy and other related EU policy areas. This involves contributing to the development of research methods, designing and managing projects as well as proposal and report writing. Most of the projects are conducted on behalf of the European Commission or related EU institutions and agencies. They often involve multiple partners. You will also contribute to Ecorys’ communication and outreach activities, including presentations at conferences and workshops. You will collaborate with colleagues throughout Ecorys. Depending on your experience and skills we would discuss and agree with you a career path for your future development in the company.

Profile

Essential

  • A Masters degree in economics or a related field, with a high economics content;
  • A strong interest in subjects such as R&I policy, science, technology, innovation and growth system, sustainability transitions, industrial upgrading;
  • Good organisational and project management capabilities;
  • Strong analytical and data manipulation skills;
  • Confidence and expertise with quantitative research methods, including familiarity with analysing large data sets;
  • Excellent command of English - additional language skills would be an asset;
  • Ability to work flexibly and organise and prioritise parallel tasks;
  • Strong team player with a curious mind and eagerness to learn.

Desirable

  • At least 1 year of work experience in a relevant field;
  • Knowledge of evaluation and impact assessment methodologies.
