Overall Purpose of Job:

To develop and manage IDF Europe’s Communication policy and systems and be responsible for raising awareness of and commitment to IDF Europe’s work and influence amongst our members and external stakeholders

Specific Responsibilities include:

1. Development of IDF Europe’s communication policy including but not limited to the following:

  • Establishing an internal and external communication strategy to enhance the flow of communication and increase IDF Europe’s visibility;
  • Creation of systems for rapid dissemination of information to and from the IDF Europe membership;
  • Development of communication tools aimed at decision-makers and the media;
  • Ensuring mailing lists are comprehensive and relevant.

2. Creation, editing and management of IDF Europe’s communication tools in cooperation with the staff of the Regional Office:

  • IDF Europe Mailings and Newsletter;
  • Website and intranet content;
  • Information Pack to Members (to be developed).

3. Supporting IDF Europe’s involvement in EU funded projects utilising effective communications tools and actions.

4. Development of IDF Europe’s branding in line with the guidelines and principles of the mother organization IDF Global and ensure consistency and implementation of same.

5. Supporting the IDF Europe Regional Manager or a member of the IDF Europe board in liaising pro-actively with the media at both European level and in member states where IDF Europe wishes to have a strong presence (e.g. venue of an event, EU Presidency etc.).

Profile of the candidate:

1. Knowledge:

Essential Requirements:

  • Knowledge of communication tools and techniques;
  • Knowledge of press and publicity work.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the workings of the EU institutions;
  • Knowledge of health issues from a patients’ rights perspective;
  • Written and Spoken English.

2. Skills and Abilities:

Essential Requirements:

  • Ability to work effectively in English;
  • Computer literate (word, excel, power-point, simple desk top publishing);
  • Ability to communicate well in writing and orally;
  • Strong external presentation skills;
  • Proof reading and editing skills;
  • Ability to manage a complex workload and to plan and prioritise;
  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to analyse and process information on a range of patients’ rights issues to diverse audiences;
  • Outgoing personality and a team player;
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays, as and when necessary;
  • Willingness to travel on work related to IDF Europe’s activities.

3. Experience:

Essential:

  • Drafting of press releases, position statements, publications, articles, brochures and the like;
  • Experience of working with graphic designers/printers;
  • Copy-reading;
  • Editing.

Desirable:

  • Journalistic Experience;
  • EU funded projects;
  • Experience in the NGO field.

4. Qualifications:

  • A first degree in Public Relations and/or Communications.
