MGR Human Resources Ltd, member of MAP S.Platis Group of Companies, is a leading, broad HR Consulting, Training, Recruitment and Temporary Placements Agency. We are looking to hire a Legal Assistant – interim support for the European Union Agency for Asylum to be based in Malta.

The position

The successful candidate will work on a secondment basis for the awarded contract for the Provision of Interim Services to the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA). EUAA is an EU Regulatory Agency headquartered in Malta whose mandate is to strengthen EU Member States’ practical cooperation on asylum, to support Member States whose asylum systems are under particular pressure and to enhance the implementation of the Common European Asylum System.

Responsibilities:

The Legal Assistant will be working in the Litigation and Complaints Sector (LCS) within the Legal services Unit (LSU) and will provide assistance in relation to:

  • Managing litigation, including legal representation in court proceedings.
  • Managing pre-litigation and complaints, also within the context of the Agency’s operations in Member States, and advising on possible legal risks and contribute to finding sound solutions to avoid litigation.
  • Managing administrative procedures under the Staff Regulations and CEOS, including disciplinary procedures and procedures under Articles 24 and 90 of the Staff Regulations.
  • Providing legal support in Staff Regulations and CEOS-related matters, which may develop into complaints and court proceedings.
  • Liaising with external stakeholders such as competent authorities, EU institutions, bodies, offices and agencies in relation to the responsibilities of the Sector.
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned in the interest of the service pursuant to the LSU/LCS list of responsibilities.

Selection criteria

Essential criteria:

  • Professional experience in relation to the EU legal framework applicable to EU institutions, bodies, offices or agencies.
  • University degree in law.

Advantageous criteria:

  • Professional experience in relation to (pre-) litigation.
  • Professional experience in relation to the EU Staff Regulations and CEOS.

Minimum Education:

  • Post-secondary education attested by a diploma.

Remuneration

The position falls in hierarchical Category III and the associated salary is €33,475.68 gross annually in twelve monthly installments.
