MGR Human Resources Ltd, with a Temporary Employment Agency License in Malta No. 249-2024, member of MAP S.Platis Group of Companies, is a leading, broad HR Consulting, Training, Recruitment and Temporary Placements Agency. We are looking to hire a Project Assistant – interim support for the European Union Agency for Asylum to be based in Malta.

The position

The successful candidate will work on a secondment basis for the awarded contract for the Provision of Interim Services to the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA). EUAA is an EU Regulatory Agency headquartered in Malta whose mandate is to strengthen EU Member States’ practical cooperation on asylum, to support Member States whose asylum systems are under particular pressure and to enhance the implementation of the Common European Asylum System.

Job description: 

The main responsibilities of the post concern supporting projects implemented by the Information and Analysis Sector of the EUAA, including Information and Documentation System (IDS), Asylum Report, Case Law Database, Who is Who in International Protection, Query Portal and qualitative outputs (reports, analyses, overviews, factsheets) published by the sector. The Project Assistant will also support information exchange and cooperation with EU+ countries and other stakeholders (civil society organizations, national human rights institutions, academia etc).

Specific tasks include: 

  • research and information collection on various aspects of the Common European Asylum System and its implementation in EU Member States through policies, practices, legislation, and case law;
  • updates and content maintenance in the Information and Documentation System through regular exchanges with assigned EU+ countries and relevant stakeholders;
  • drafting outputs including summaries to be published on EUAA platforms and registrations of court decisions on EUAA Case Law Database, as well as other analytical products;
  • providing input to ICT developments and user evaluations of platforms managed by the Information and Analysis Sector;
  • providing support in the organisation of meetings with external stakeholders, in collaboration with other EUAA Sectors;
  • Other tasks coordinated by Head of IAS.

Relevant requirements:

Essentials:

  • Knowledge of asylum, migration and fundamental rights in the European context
  • Minimum one year of experience in research, information collection and drafting outputs
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English 
  • Ability to use electronic office equipment and applications (word processing, spread sheets, presentations, electronic communication, internet etc.);
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines on multiple tasks without close supervision;
  • Very strong service-oriented attitude;
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong team working attitude;
  • Strong sense for detail and accuracy in work;
  • Good sense of confidentiality, integrity and discretion.

Advantageous:

  • University degree, preferably in law or areas relevant to fundamental rights

Remuneration

The position falls in hierarchical Category III and the associated salary is €34,795.80 gross annually in twelve monthly installments.
