The Policy & Project Assistant is responsible for supporting the Policy team in the day-to-day management of AmCham EU committees, which bring together business professionals from our member companies. She/he monitors relevant EU policies and transatlantic affairs to identify relevant issues and challenges to the membership. She/he also supports the building of advocacy and outreach campaigns, contributing to the production of internal/external communications to members and stakeholders. Reports directly to the Associate Policy Manager and works in close coordination with the team, particularly on green and digital issues.

Main tasks:

  • Develop close relationships with key EU officials and stakeholders;
  • Oversee the production and dissemination of policy papers and other advocacy materials;
  • Organise activities including meetings, conferences, seminars and visits;
  • Research and disseminate information on focus areas for the membership;
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance on policy matters;
  • Works across teams and with members to coordinate plans related to events and ensures high quality written content;
  • Edits & reviews position papers for content/quality/relevance;
  • Work collaboratively with Content, Communications and Operations teams.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience Required:

  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of professional experience in the field of European and international affairs;
  • A relevant university degree and demonstrable interest in European affairs, politics, foreign affairs, international relations;
  • Excellent oral and writing skills in English;
  • Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills coupled with an flexible and adaptable mindset;
  • IT literacy (particularly Word and CRM) with strong organisational and administrative skills;
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to identify policy challenges to our membership;
  • Team player able to work both independently and collaborate with colleagues within a dynamic team.

Languages: Fluent English (both written and spoken); another EU language an advantage
Start date: September 2021 preferably
Contract: six months (possible extension)
