For its Public Affairs department, Cefic is looking for a (m/f/d): Public Affairs Manager
Mission of the role:
Working closely with a dynamic team of public affairs, communications & regulatory professionals, the manager will provide advocacy support to Cefic Sector Groups (SGs) focusing on chemical legislation (i.e. REACH & CLP).

You will:
- Develop and implement pan-EU advocacy strategies on regulatory processes for chemical legislation.
- Provide regulatory and political guidance to SGs.
- Represent the SG’s interests at EU/Member States decision-maker's meetings/events and other stakeholders’ meetings/events.
- Outreach to officials of the European Commission, ECHA, European Parliament, Member States’ ministries and regulatory agencies.
- Monitor political and regulatory developments.
- Draft position papers and prepare advocacy materials.
- Design and execute relevant events as appropriate.
- Support Cefic’s Public Affairs team on various advocacy projects.
Can you make the difference?
The successful candidate will be a professional who demonstrates the following experience and competencies and personal qualities:
- A minimum of 2 to 3 years of professional experience in a public affairs role (in-house, agency, trade association, etc.).
- Proven experience working on chemical legislation (i.e., REACH & CLP) and thorough knowledge of EU legislative processes (ordinary & comitology).
- Demonstrated experience working on REACH restrictions. Overall knowledge about the Chemical Strategy for Sustainability is an additional asset.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Ability to develop and communicate policy positions clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated strong project management skills.
- Experiences with integrated public affairs campaigns would be desirable.
- Good leadership skills and ability to develop consensus between diverging positions.
- Strategic and analytical thinker with service and customer focus.
- Curious, fast-learning, and willing to improve continuously.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Highly developed intercultural, diplomatic and rhetoric skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as a good team player.
- Passionate about conscientious work and attention to detail.
- Full professional proficiency in English. Fluency in other official EU languages would be an asset.
- Willingness to travel for business.
