Job context

Position within Hivos

The Fundraiser is a mid-level position and reports to the Senior Fundraiser.

Private donors in the Netherlands make an important contribution to our work, and we are very thankful for their support. We are continuously recruiting new donors and want to build a sustainable relationship with them to keep them with us for as long as possible. This new position will strengthen our fundraising team’s capacity to achieve our ambitious growth target.

Aim of the job

As a fundraiser, your focus is on recruiting and retaining new donors. For this, you are the first point of contact for face-to-face recruitment agencies, among others. You keep a close eye on the results and are not afraid to address the agency about them. You make sure that agencies have the right input and resources and you know how to motivate their recruitment teams to go the extra mile.

You ensure the customer journey for new donors runs smoothly, while coming up with ways to improve this process. Together with the Communication Officer, you help organize donor events. If necessary, you answer questions from donors. Because we are a small team, you are sometimes also involved developing some fundraising campaigns.

Your profile

  • At least three years of professional work experience in private donor fundraising with a charity or recruitment agency
  • At least a HBO level of working and thinking
  • An education in the field of marketing, commercial economics or communication
  • Energetic, entrepreneurial and full of good ideas
  • A keen eye for results and how to improve them
  • Well-organized and able to plan ahead
  • Experience in working with a database
  • An appealing and convincing communication style
  • Excellent proficiency in Dutch and preferably also in English
  • Personal identification with Hivos’ values and goals
