Carbon Market Watch is a not-for-profit association with unique expertise in carbon pricing and a track record of policy work in international organisations and the European Union.

We are recruiting a dynamic communications officer full time, initially on a one-year contract with a possibility of extension, starting in April/May 2021 or as soon as possible. The communications officer will work in our Brussels' office and remotely from a Belgian residence. S/he will report to our communications director and will support communication activities across our work programme.

Tasks and responsibilities

Layout and graphic design

  • Develop audiovisual content for Carbon Market Watch campaigns;
  • Assist in the layout of Carbon Market Watch publications.

Website and social media

  • Support website management and online content development;
  • Create content for and support the management of the social media channels used by Carbon Market Watch and its different projects.

General support to the team

  • Carry out stakeholder mapping and tracking of public institutions and actors;
  • Update contact databases;
  • Monitor relevant climate and energy policy news;
  • Support the organisation and follow up of events and capacity building activities.

Required skills and experience

  • At least three years of work experience or degree from marketing, communications or related field;
  • Good eye for design, layout and typography;
  • Experience with photo, audio and video editing;
  • Experience with website and social media management;
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products, such as InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, Audition and Illustrator, or equivalent;
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines;
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English, knowledge of other European languages (especially French and Spanish) is an advantage.

Desired

  • Knowledge of EU decision-making processes and institutions;
  • Knowledge of EU and international climate policies;
  • Passion for climate policy.

What we offer

  • A full time, one-year contract under Belgian law with the intention of extension;
  • A competitive remuneration package in line with Brussels NGO standards: salary range from 3000 € to 3500 € gross/month depending in particular on years of experience; 13th month, lunch vouchers, mobile phone package, local public transport pass;
  • Starting date: April/May 2021 (as early as possible).
