Job Objective    

The Operations and Projects Intern supports the CEO and Operations and Projects Manager to deliver continuous and outstanding service and products to stakeholders in the cancer community, including Member Societies of the European Cancer Organisation, its Patient Advisory Committee and our partners. He/she is interested in gaining first-hand experience in a dynamic and fast-paced organisation. The working language at European Cancer Organisation is English.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work with the Operations and Projects Manager to plan events, such as the European Cancer Summit and handle logistical aspects
  • Handle everyday office management tasks
  • Deal with IT-related issues that arise in collaboration with the Operations and Projects Manager
  • Maintain and develop relationships with suppliers and follow-up on ongoing issues
  • Organise file archives and office supplies and equipment
  • Work with the Operations and Project Manager to track budget elements and process payments
  • Take notes during meetings focusing on key action points
  • Coordinate and manage diaries to organise meetings
  • Handle logistics for meetings both virtual and physical

Description of the Relationships

  • Report to the CEO with regular direction from the Operations and Projects Manager
  • Collaborate with the Policy and Advocacy and Communication and Community teams

Skill Specifications         

  • University degree and a keen interest in operations and event organisation
  • Strong organisational and communication skills - fluency in English and French, with effective and efficient writing skills in both languages
  • Must be able to work independently, think critically and have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Be a team player able to follow internal and external workflows with precise deadlines
  • Proactively follow-up on pending tasks

Profile & Experience     

  • Computer and internet proficient with keen interest in continually developing IT-related skills
  • Additional educational qualifications, experience in event organisation, IT savvy, and above a doer, who is not afraid to pick up the phone and proactively make things happen are all important aspects of the job

Internships are remunerated on a level comparable to the internship programmes offered at European institutions.
