The International Platform of Insects for Food and Feed (IPIFF) is looking for a highly motivated Trainee to reinforce its Secretariat in Brussels.

IPIFF is a non-governmental organisation set up to represent the insect production sector at EU level. Main functions:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of IPIFF policy projects in the areas of EU food and feed safety and/or environmental legislation (e.g. updating of the IPIFF Guide of Good Hygiene Practices for the insect sector, development of contribution papers on the management of insect frass and/or of insect feed substrates).
  • Assist the IPIFF Members and the insect value chain in relation to Research and Development activities (e.g. production of guidance documents, monitoring of ‘EU opportunities’).
  • In collaboration with the other IPIFF staff members, support the activities of Working Groups or Task Forces that are dedicated to the above subjects.
  • Assist in the production of position papers, fact sheets and/or other relevant communication tools.
  • Execute other tasks in support of the day-to-day management of the Secretariat (support the preparation of meetings, reporting activities).

Education and skills:

  • University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) in environmental and/or food science and/or quality management, agronomy, veterinary/entomology fields or related disciplines.
  • A native English speaker or equivalent level, both written and spoken. Fluency in other European Union languages is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated high competency as a writer in English.
  • Ability to learn and develop within a fast-paced working environment.
  • High degree of attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Experience:

  • Proven professional experience (e.g. traineeship) in positions with tasks closely related to the ones described above is a strong asset.
  • Previous experience in the insect production sector is a considerable advantage.
  • Previous professional experience in EU institutions, international organisations, NGOs or trade associations is an asset but not a prerequisite.
  • Interest in and/or previous knowledge of EU policies and/or EU agri-food policies and/or legislation is also an advantage.

What we offer:

  • A 9-month traineeship starting from end February/early March 2021.
  • A stipend of 1.000 €/month will be allocated for the duration of the traineeship.
  • Opportunities for signing a full-time employment contract at the end of the traineeship period.

HOW TO APPLY:

Please send your application (CV + motivation letter in English) to Mr Christophe Derrien by e-mail (please use the following email address Christophe.derrien@ipiff.org) by Wednesday 3 February 2021.
