Through the EEA and Norway Grants, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway help to reduce economic and social disparities in Europe and strengthen cooperation with 15 EU member states. The EEA and Norway Grants are linked to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA), which makes Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway partners in the internal market with the 28 EU member states. The EEA countries share common values and responsibility with other European countries to promote equality of opportunity, tolerance, security, environmental sustainability and a decent standard of living for all. We stand for cooperation and a green, competitive and inclusive Europe. For the period 2009-2014, €1.8 billion has been set aside under the Grants. Funding is channelled through 148 programmes covering ten different sectors. Projects may be implemented until April 2016. An allocation of €2.8 billion has been agreed for 2014-2021.
