JOB DESCRIPTION:

FIT4FOOD2030supports the development and implementation of the European Commission’s FOOD 2030 policy framework – to find solutions to the challenges facing our food systems. This transformation is needed to future-proof the European food systems: to make them more sustainable and resilient, and to find solutions for the many food-related challenges Europe is facing, including hunger, malnutrition, obesity, climate change, scarce resources, and waste. The position holder will work on the development and implementation of EU’s Food2030 Strategy, help initiate innovative European partnerships, contribute to EIT Food communications channels and ensure the optimal operational follow-up on the EU awarded project Fit4Food2030.

JOB AND CONTRACT TYPE: Temporary contract will be offered until 31st December 2020

LOCATION: S/he will be based at the EIT Food headquarters. (Leuven, Belgium) Occasional travel (10% of time) within Europe can be expected. Please note that despite the job location in Belgium, command of Dutch or French language is not required and candidates from other European countries are encouraged to apply as the position will have pan-European responsibilities. Candidates from other countries will be required to work from EIT Food’s office in Leuven, no relocation assistance is foreseen.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As a Project Manager, be the point-of-contact and carry out the implementation of EU funded project – Fit4Food2030;
  • Design the deliverables that EIT Food is responsible for and coordinate with project partners and external stakeholders for its the delivery;
  • Keep up to date on emerging trends and innovations in food system
  • Support, manage and organize activities linked to the implementation of project, with special attention to quality of deliverables as defined by the project;
  • Develop project workplans and ensure the optimal utilisation of the budget;
  • Maintain project oversight, planning, coordination, implementation and quality assurance;
  • Provide support to the different work streams to achieve the project’s goals;
  • Monitor project performance and support continuous improvement;
  • Disseminate top level programme recommendations and key learnings with staff and relevant stakeholders;
  • Deliver narrative and financial reports in accordance with project and organisational requirements;
  • Maintain a database of all project documents and reports.
  • You will report to the Director of Communications. Public Affairs Manager & Executive Advisor will be your direct contact for the Fit4Food2030 work.

Other tasks:

  • Be a brand ambassador for EIT Food within the project and EIT Food events
  • Work closely with the other members of the public affairs team. Support on ad hoc basis in public affairs or communication when required.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Communications, Politics, European Studies, Economics or equivalent domain
  • Previous working experience in and knowledge of EU Institutions and UN SDGs is a plus
  • Interest in managing and implementing European projects
  • Excellent communication skills in English, including strong public presentation and writing skills
