Transparency International EU (TI EU) is part of the global anti-corruption movement, Transparency International, which includes over 100 chapters around the world. Since 2008, Transparency International EU has functioned as a regional liaison office for the global movement and as such it works closely with the Transparency International Secretariat in Berlin, Germany.

TI EU leads the movement’s EU advocacy, in close cooperation with national chapters worldwide, but particularly with the 24 national chapters in EU Member States.

TI EU’s mission is to prevent corruption and promote integrity, transparency and accountability in EU institutions, policies and legislation.

TI EU is looking for a committed, motivated and experienced individual to help sustain and grow the office by exploring and developing new funding relationships. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful fundraising in the non-profit sector, extensive experience in writing grant proposals for a broad range of donors and devising and implementing innovative fundraising strategies.

Main functions: Fundraising and Resource Development
Starting date: 3 February 2020
Salary: Grade III: ranging from 3300 EUR to 5200 EUR gross per month (pro rata). An appointment is expected to be made in the middle of this range
Reporting: Reports to the TI EU Director

Overall Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for raising funds for TI EU as well as facilitating fundraising for the TI movement overall.

This is a fixed-term maternity cover for a minimum of six months with a possibility of an extension and/or becoming permanent. Please note that this is a 50% part-time position.

TI EU will also consider appointments on a consultancy basis through a tender process. Offers should be made for up to 30,000 EUR (inclusive of VAT) for the whole duration of the assignment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyse arising fundraising opportunities for the office with an emphasis on diversifying existing funding sources;
  • Proactively reach out to and cultivate potential donors on behalf of TI EU, in coordination with the TI EU Director and the fundraising colleagues at the TI Secretariat in Berlin;
  • Coordinate drafting and submission of fundraising applications to a broad range of donors, including the EU and private foundations;
  • Review and negotiate new grant agreements, process internal administrative paperwork and ensure timely approval cycle;
  • Monitor grants implementation and developments on grants administration issues;
  • Assist with donor reporting, in cooperation with the responsible policy staff, as needed.

Knowledge, experience and skills:

  • A university degree, preferably in a relevant field;
  • Five (5) years of experience in fundraising, preferably in the non-profit sector;
  • Demonstrated successful track record in fundraising from a broad range of donors;
  • Good knowledge of the European institutions and their funding mechanisms considered a strong asset;
  • Fluency in English required; fluency in French and other EU languages an asset;
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships internally and externally at all levels;
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment;
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and maintain a professional approach;
  • Entrepreneurial, creative and opportunity-driven mind-set;
  • Accuracy and attention to detail;
  • A commitment to the values and goals of Transparency International.
