Euractiv is an independent pan-European media network specializing in EU policies. Our primary goal is to ignite and facilitate policy debates among stakeholders, including government, business, and civil society. We provide comprehensive coverage of policy processes leading up to decisions, presenting the issues in a neutral manner without taking sides.

The Euractiv Network offers localized EU policy news in 13 languages. Through collaboration with our media partners, we reach over 1.7 million users across Europe and beyond every month. With 2.5 million page views and over 1 million unique readers per month, Euractiv is a leading online media platform specializing in EU policy. We strive to engage 80% of our readers in their own language.

Position Overview

We are seeking an accomplished and driven IT Infrastructure Engineer to join our thriving team. This role holds a unique blend of responsibilities, encompassing project delivery, operational management, cybersecurity enhancement, and serving as the primary IT point of contact for our organisation. The successful candidate will be instrumental in optimising our IT landscape, working collaboratively with both internal teams and external service providers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Delivery and Operational Management:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and successful completion of IT infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee Level 1 and Level 2 IT activities, including incident resolution and end-user support.
  • Maintain and optimise our network, hardware, and software systems to ensure consistent performance and availability.

2. Cybersecurity and Controls:

  • Collaborate with the Group cybersecurity and Infrastructure team to enhance controls and safeguards for our IT environment.
  • Identify potential vulnerabilities and implement necessary countermeasures.
  • Stay informed about emerging cybersecurity threats and trends, ensuring proactive mitigation strategies are in place.

3. Primary IT Point of Contact:

  • Manage and address all IT support requests originating from across the organisation.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to understand their IT needs and provide effective solutions.
  • Act as a bridge between technology and business functions, ensuring seamless alignment.

4. Collaboration with Third-Party Providers:

  • Work closely with existing local third-party service providers to ensure efficient IT service delivery.
  • Monitor and manage vendor relationships, ensuring they align with our organisation's IT standards and objectives.

5. Ownership and Motivated Self-Starter:

Take ownership of IT-related problems, projects, and initiatives, driving them through to successful resolution. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and optimisation.

6. Core IT Services Team:

  • Collaborate closely with our digital IT resource to form the core IT services team for the company. 
  • Share knowledge, contribute to strategy discussions, and provide technical leadership.  
  • Work together to ensure a robust support mechanism is in place whereby you support each and provide backup for each other as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • A minimum of 3/4 years of hands-on experience supporting end-user and back-office IT hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
  • Strong project management skills, with a proven track record of delivering IT projects on time and within budget.
  • Comprehensive understanding of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, and cybersecurity.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and proactive individual with a passion for problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

This is a full-time employment contract under Belgian law (“contrat à durée indéterminée”), with salary and responsibilities commensurate to the candidate’s level of experience.
