For our public affairs team, we are looking for a Policy advisor public affairs

In this role, you will support the federation’s public affairs and policy objectives, focusing on conduct of business issues, which include consumer, legal, distribution, disclosures, digitalisation and equal treatment topics. You will be responsible for monitoring EU regulatory developments and for advising the federation on the best advocacy strategy in the conduct of business area and for implementing it actively. You will do so by ensuring effective cooperation and coordination with relevant stakeholders, and by developing and leveraging working relationships with the EU institutions. You will participate in a range of different meetings where you will actively promote the policy messages of the federation. You will coordinate and work closely with your colleagues in the conduct of business and public affairs departments. You will report internally on your areas of responsibility and to members. You will also support the development of external advocacy tools and publications, including position papers, as well as internal communication materials.

Tasks

  • Monitoring and gathering intelligence on EU regulatory and policy developments relevant to the European insurance industry; identifying and flagging up new key issues of potential relevance.
  • Analysing EU developments on conduct of business issues.
  • Regularly reporting internally and to members, and collaborating with colleagues across the federation.
  • Advising on appropriate lobbying strategies, and contributing to their implementation, including by
  • participating in advocacy activities, promoting the policy messages and representing the industry in
  • meetings with EU institutions and other stakeholders.
  • Building trusted and influential relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Providing support for the development of the federation’s positions and advocacy tools.

Profile

  • Minimum three to five years of experience in EU affairs with an excellent knowledge of EU policy making, ideally in the financial sector and preferably insurance.
  • University level education, preferably in an area related to EU studies, law, economics or international relations.
  • Good understanding of strategic and regulatory issues in financial services.
  • Highly developed team spirit, sense of responsibility, intellectually curious, ability to take initiatives and be proactive.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills, with ability to tailor messages to different audiences and to speak in public.
  • Good organisational skills and capacity to prioritise and identify key issues.
  • Very good analytical skills, and ability to synthesise feedback and make the complex simple.
  • Excellent drafting skills in English.
  • An outgoing and dynamic personality.
