The Representation for EU Affairs (REUA) collaborates with EU institutions in Brussels on these issues, and works closely with the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) in Malta and Frontex, the EU's external border agency, based in Warsaw. The REUA in Brussels also supports UNHCR’s activities and regional offices in litigation before national and regional courts on legal questions of concern to UNHCR. Support on thematic issues such as trafficking, SGBV, child protection and statelessness in Europe is also provided from Brussels. Finally the REUA ensures the oversight of operations in Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg and The Netherlands.
The UNHCR Representation for EU Affairs, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg and the Netherlands (REUA) is seeking a: Social Media & Digital Communications Consultant (home-based).
The Social Media & Digital Communications consultant will support the UNHCR REUA in reviewing its social media and digital channels (European Union focused) and provide a report, including a series of recommendations culminating in a Social Media and Digital Engagement Strategy 2022-2023.
The primary role of the Representation for EU Affairs is to cooperate and liaise closely with the European Union institutions.
At present, REUA’s primary EU social media channel is Twitter. The strategy, looking at Twitter, an upcoming website, and potentially other social media channels, managed by the EU Visibility Team, should take into consideration various strands of work including UNHCR’s Global Communications, donor (EU) visibility including digital campaigns, advocacy, and digital diplomacy, in line with wider objectives and audiences.
The strategy should include a review of the current state of play and a roadmap for a more structured, predictable, data-informed and streamlined approach to digital engagement.
The strategy will focus on REUA’s social and digital engagement vis-à-vis the EU institutions and other relevant regional stakeholders.
The project will be conducted over a period of 2.5 to 3 months (mid/late September 2021-December 2021).
The consultancy contract will start in the mid/late September of 2021 (53-62 days between September and December 2021). It is a full-time home-based role, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
