FIPRA is looking for a mid-level Account Manager to join its Competition & Antitrust Practice. Our competition practice has over 20 years' experience advising clients on the political and public affairs aspects of EU (and also EEA/UK) competition cases, including on mergers & acquisitions, anti-trust investigations, state aid cases and cartels. We have extensive experience in facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogue and input to help bring about particular outcomes.

Account Manager in FIPRA's Competition & Antitrust Practice

Being an Account Manager in FIPRA's competition team will offer you the experience of working and making a difference in a dynamic sector which is facing numerous challenges - as well as opportunities.

Prior legal experience is not essential, but you will need to have already developed a good existing level of understanding of EU competition policy, including the current rules and procedures under which DG Competition operates and inter-acts with companies under investigation, with other relevant third parties, with other Directorates within the European Commission, with the relevant authorities in the EU Member States and with the European Parliament.

As an Account Manager, your role will be to help manage clients and cases on a day-to-day basis, with input and assistance from others on the team. Some clients may require assistance not only on competition-related matters but also on how these can inter-act with other areas of EU policy, such as digital policy, industrial, environmental and transport policy, financial services policy, or media policy, among others. Knowledge and experience of other EU policy areas would therefore be a plus.

You will report to, and be guided by, the Head of the Business Unit, while also liaising with other members of our team, including our range of experienced Special Advisors as well as our full-time personnel.

Role and responsibilities

  • Play a key role in managing client relationships and delivering high quality services in-line with client needs and expectations;
  • Work across a diverse range of issues, both as part of the competition team and in liaison with other FIPRA practice areas/business units;
  • Assist in conducting research, monitoring and analysis; gather intelligence by using FIPRA resources and your own network;
  • Participate in interactions (meetings/calls/presentations) with clients and stakeholders, both on existing business and potential new business;
  • Contribute to pitches and presentations for new business development; participate in conferences and other events on behalf of FIPRA;
  • Provide strategic and logistical support for multi-stakeholder initiatives to address specific client issues and deliver successful outcomes.

Skills and experience

  • At least 5 years' relevant experience from an EU institution, public affairs consultancy, law firm, in-house public affairs team or NGO;
  • Strong interest in and good understanding of EU competition policy essential, with an awareness of current debates around future policy challenges;
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills to drive client agendas and initiatives with proven proactivity and flexibility;
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail; ability to deliver high-quality work while multi-tasking and managing competing deadlines;
  • Ability to work autonomously where needed, while also supporting, managing and developing other team members;
  • Good verbal communication, writing and presentation skills; adept networker with strong contacts in the EU bubble.

Fluency in English both written and conversational is a requirement, but FIPRA employs persons of all nationalities and other European language skills are a bonus, as are existing ICT and digital skills.

FIPRA offers the possibility to join a highly professional team, which will stimulate your professional and individual development. We offer an attractive salary package dependent on your experience.
