Leading global regulatory news service Chemical Watch is looking for a journalist with experience of reporting on either environmental policy, science or the chemical industry to join our four-strong Europe news desk covering key policy and regulatory developments in the region.
The successful candidate will be responsible for reporting on developments in chemicals regulation and management, as directed by the Europe desk editor. A key focus will be EU chemicals management policy and the actions of the EU institutions, trade bodies and NGOs. The reporter will be expected to plug into the Brussels policy/lobbying scene and establish excellent contacts in key organisations. The reporter will also help cover developments at member state level.
While the successful candidate’s primary task will be to make a substantial contribution to our Europe desk news coverage, he or she will also be expected to write occasional features and contribute to Chemical Watch news podcasts. The work also involves attending press conferences in Brussels and Chemical Watch and third party events – online or, when possible, in person.
We need an ambitious and talented journalist with a minimum of two years reporting experience. The successful candidate should have excellent English language writing skills and take pride in their copy. A natural networker, the successful candidate must have the drive to get to understand the chemicals regulatory agenda and the business and scientific debates that surround it. While not essential, language skills, especially French and German, would be an advantage.
The Chemical Watch brand provides businesses worldwide with the information they need to safely manage chemicals in products, reporting impartially on the actions and opinions of all stakeholders in our community. Owned by environmental, health and safety information services company Enhesa, Chemical Watch continues to enjoy strong global year-on-year growth. It has more than 70 staff, based in the US, Asia and Europe, including a team of nearly 20 journalists.
