For our Sub Saharan Africa Division, we are looking for a motivated and dynamic individual to be our next :

Intern – Communication & Program Support (50 %)

Location: Geneva, Switzerland 
Starting date: July 2021
Duration: 6 months, with possibility of extension

THE ROLE    
The intern will work primarily on tasks related to the communication of the Sub-Saharan Africa Division (SSAD) and more specifically on the Sahel regional program under the responsibility of the project coordinator and the project officer. He/she will also support the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the Sahel program activities. A detailed work program will be developed jointly at the beginning of the internship.

Key areas of operation:
1. Support the development and dissemination of communication materials: 
•    Compile, edit and send out using MailChimp the monthly SAHEL newsletter ;
•    Post the monthly SAHEL newsletter on the DCAF website ;
•    Compile and write the bi-monthly DCAF staff newsletter for SSAD ;
•    Collect and process stories, quotes and photos related to SSAD projects, especially from country offices to contribute to the production of content for the website, social networks, brochures or articles and videos ;
•    Assist in the production of this content for communication and training purposes (e-learning) and its distribution on the various SSAD media (training platform) and social networks ;
•    Share and follow the SSAD editorial planning with the DCAF communication team in order to help disseminate the projects on the different DCAF communication supports ;
•    Provide communications support for SSAD events and activities ;
•    Provide video, audio and photo editing support as needed. 
2. Support SAHEL program implementation: 
•    Support the updating and posting of support documents on the various internal sharing platforms (Sharepoint) ;
•    Support the monitoring of SAHEL program activities (update monitoring tables, participate in reporting).
3. Support administrative tasks:
•    Organize and participate in meetings, take minutes;
•    Contribute to all other administrative tasks, as required by the SAHEL program.

YOUR EXPERIENCE 
•    Master’s in communication and information management techniques and tools;
•    Experience in content creation, management and animation;
•    Experience with graphic editing and photo editing software (Adobe Creative Cloud Pack, CANVA, CAMTASIA, etc);
•    Experience with content management platforms such as MailChimp and Drupal;
•    Experience in the use of e-learning creation platforms (EasyGenerator, iSpring) and learning management systems (Moodle) as well as in the development methodology of adult education;
•    Good communication skills, excellent oral and written expression in French and English;
•    Interest in governance and security issues, specifically in the Sahel region; 
•    Currently enrolled in graduate school, preferably with a major in communications, political science, international relations, or other relevant fields. (A letter of enrollment from the school will be requested from selected candidates);
•    Fluency in English and French required
•    Swiss or EU citizenship or a valid work permit for Switzerland at the time of application is a pre-requisite.
