Due to restrictions related to the pandemic, the team has been working remotely. It is likely that in the future there will be still some days or remote work, though the position requires regular presence in the office.

Entity:

Solar Heat Europe/ESTIF represents the interests of the solar heating and cooling industry, actively promoting the use of these technologies in Europe. Its membership covers the whole solar thermal heating value chain, from collector manufacturers to component suppliers, research institutes, service providers, national solar thermal and renewable energy associations.

Position overview:

We are looking for a graduate in EU affairs or similar, with at least 2 years of experience in the policy field, preferably in the climate and/or energy areas. We want someone with a commitment to renewable energy and willing to work on different policy-related aspects: monitoring, reporting and following-up political processes relevant to the solar thermal sector; regulatory issues at European and national level, namely the implementation of the European Climate Law and topics related to Research & Innovation.

Main Tasks:

  • Monitor relevant energy-related policy topics, including EU energy policy;
  • Map policy issues, instruments and resources;
  • Develop sectoral actions related to the main legislative processes;
  • Cooperate with the communication work related to energy policy issues;
  • Support the definition and implementation of the advocacy work with other organisations and EU Institutions;
  • Elaborate policy documents, reports and briefings for internal and external use;
  • Monitoring topics related to research, innovation, standardisation or certification;
  • Draft texts and articles for different channels and purposes: websites, media, newsletter and other documents;
  • Support policy-related work in European projects;
  • Contribute, as required, to the overall work of the association and perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Desirable skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English;
  • Fluency in French, German or other languages is an asset;
  • Degree in EU affairs, international relations or equivalent. Economics, engineering or law degrees are also relevant;
  • Computer literate.

Profile

  • Degree in EU affairs or similar;
  • At least 2 years of experience in the policy field;
  • Experiences in the climate or energy areas are an asset;
  • Highly motivated, flexible, proactive and team player;
  • Accurate, detailed-minded, and well organised;
  • Interested in climate and renewable energies topics;
  • Capable of understanding both policy and technical aspects;
  • Capacity to work in a multi-cultural environment.

Conditions

The terms and conditions of the contract will be subject to Belgian law. The successful applicant will be offered an undetermined contract, starting in May 2021. Salary will be determined according to qualifications.
