The Ludwig von Mises Institute-Europe was established on 12th October 2002 as a non-partisan think tank fostering an open and free society.

It bears the name of Ludwig von Mises, one of the most prominent libertarian economists of the whole XX century, and one of the main representatives of the Austrian School.

The Ludwig von Mises Institute-Europe primarily aims at:

  • Exchanging and promoting a free and open economy with a particular focus on the economic ideas of the Austrian School"
  • Bridging the gap between “Brussels” and the European citizens and between Eurocrats and Eurosceptics
  • Acting as an interface between top academics, senior business leaders, respected media commentators, and leading politicians across the EU and in Brussels
  • Teaching young professionals and students from all over the world to learn about the workings of the European Institutions
  • Connecting world-wide liberals and organizations at national and international levels

Internship responsibilities

  • Organise conferences and dinner debates held by LVMI – Europe and participate in other important think tanks’ activities;
  • Assist with research projects on European politics and international relations;
  • Prepare a public relations plan for LVMI – Europe;

Liaising with the EU institutions and especially EU Parliament which the intern will also be expected to attend

Researching and suggesting topics of possible interest for future debates and proposing possible interesting speakers

Establish links with civil society, media, businesses, politicians and EU institutions, including the European Parliament;

  • Communicate with LVMI – Europe’s patrons, sponsors and Board of Directors;
  • Organise sponsorship for LVMI – Europe’s debates, seminars and conferences;
  • Write a monthly newsletter and weekly blog;
  • Update the website.

Selection criteria

Applicants for this position must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Hold at least a BA degree in a relevant field e.g. international relations, economics, communications, political science, journalism, public policy;
  • Possess excellent spoken and written knowledge of English and/or French (additional European languages are a plus);
  • Be proactive and interested in communicating with a wide range of people;
  • Have good analytical, marketing and networking skills;
  • Previous work experience in an office environment;
  • Be independent and organised.

Starting date: end of April/ beginning of May (1st ideally)

Duration of internship: 3 months

Schedules are flexible and interns are only required to come into the office twice a week (the remaining time will be spent attending conferences, debates and EU Parliament sessions, drafting reports and familiarising themselves with relevant literature). This makes this internship ideal for applicants who are undertaking an internship as part of their degree.
