The ETUC - European Trade Union Confederation - speaks with a single voice on behalf of European workers to have a stronger say in EU decision making.
We are currently recruiting a project officer to assist the political secretariat on EU funded projects aiming at strengthening the Trade Union involvement in the areas of Cohesion & Just Transition Funds, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and EU Semester Policies
The post will be full time (34 hours a week) for an 18 month period initially, which could be renewed subject to funding possibilities.
Job Description
- Support the ETUC team in the daily work, coordination and administration of the projects (organise, participate in, and ensure follow-up of meetings, workshops and other events, preparation and translation of invitations and agendas, proof reading documents related to the projects, drafting minutes and reports, assisting in the writing of circulars, info for the website and content for meetings and events);
- General project management (designing workshops and conferences, overseeing the implementation of the project workplan, monitoring the budget spending, and reporting);
- Coordinate project partners and experts -liaising and supervising the work of partners / experts involved, providing guidance on administrative and financial issues;
- Over-see the production of written documents by experts and others;
- Manage the content of the EST.ETUC.ORG website and maintain contacts with the IT suppliers;
- Collate in a timely manner, all information needed for technical reporting to the European Commission, including processing the documentation, invoices and content of partners’ activity reports ;
- Assist in the preparation of all financial and administrative deliverables and financial reports linked to the project;
- Assist with communication and outreach activities related to the project and the work of the projects;
Profile
The successful candidate must have knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:
- Excellent written and spoken English, with a very good command of a second language, preferably French. Other languages in particular German or an Eastern European language would be an asset;
- A demonstrated commitment to trade union values and social justice;
- A clear understanding of the operation of EU institutions and key elements of EU legislative processes, familiarity with cohesion and just transition funds, EU semester policy and the SDGs;
- Practical experience of EU funded projects both in terms of content and technical reporting and an understanding of the project cycle of DG EMPL;
- Good analytical skills with the capacity to absorb and summarise new information accurately;
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Good command of MS Office tools;
