About the role

We are currently looking for a Communications & Events Coordinator. This is an exciting, challenging, hands-on role. As part of a small and efficient team, you will support the organisation’s overall strategy in two key areas:

  • Supporting the communications & outreach of the organisation – working with the Communications Director, you will help craft & implement communications & campaigns around the key focus areas of ERT activities;
  • Supporting the organisation of the annual flagship meetings & events – working with colleagues and hosts to ensure that these ERT meetings & events are well-organised and run smoothly.

As ERT is a Membership-led organisation, the role requires a keen sense of diplomacy and a service-minded attitude that seeks to understand how each task relates to the wider work of the organisation. Rigorous attention-to-detail is expected.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Communications Director, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Content: Liaison with some external agencies to coordinate the layout, design & dissemination of communications materials e.g. position papers, infographics, microsites;
  • Distribution: Ensuring the ERT database is kept up-to-date and agile for use on campaigns – and works harmoniously with other key communications tools;
  • Amplification: Building more audience & better performance on selected social media;
  • Coordination: Supporting the set-up of regular communications calls;
  • Collaboration: Coordination of aspects of some key annual flagship ERT meetings – working closely with colleagues and representatives at other organisations, in the spirit of cooperation & partnership.

Key competencies

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in communications, marketing or a related discipline;
  • Proven, relevant professional experience of a 3 years minimum;
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English – including proofreading, French or Dutch;
  • Relative fluency in some key online tools, eg. SurveyMonkey, Mailchimp, HootSuite;
  • Experience organising events and hosting digital meeting platforms;
  • Experience of social media and web content responsibility;
  • Excellent organisational skills and an ability to develop own work plan and deliver accordingly;
  • Team oriented mindset, willing to be flexible according to the demands of the organisation;
  • Prepared to travel (events/meetings);
  • Plenty of energy, a calm 'customer-focused' manner, the ability to cope with pressure;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, meticulous attention to detail;
  • The ability work with minimum supervision, respecting confidentiality requirements of the organisation and our members.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in other European organisations;
  • Keen understanding of the practical implications of GDPR;
  • Aptitude & experience with data analytics.
