ERCST (European Roundtable on Climate Change and Sustainable Transition) in Brussels is seeking a Junior Researcher / Researcher.
Responsibilities:
- Research and draft background materials on the ERCST Workstreams, including Mobility, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, Border Carbon Adjustments, etc.;
- Maintain liaison with stakeholders such as policymakers, business associations, environmental NGOs, etc. in his/her area of work;
- Responsibility for the ERCST communication channels, including social media.
Skills and requirements:
- (Educational) background includes preference for political economy, environmental economics, or similar – a good understanding of economics is important;
- Interest in climate and energy policy and politics - existing knowledge of climate change policy and market approaches to climate change is desirable;
- Native speaker standard of English - proficiency in other languages will be considered an advantage;
- Be well-organised and able to pay attention to details;
- Ability to work in a demanding environment, take initiative and solve problems while under pressure;
- Ability to internalise substantial amounts of (new) materials and think laterally;
- 2-5 years of professional experience;
- Authorisation to live and work in Belgium.
Start date: Interviews start as applications are received. Work will start as soon as possible after a suitable candidate is found.
Compensation: Competitive, depending on the level, experience, and background of the candidate.
Workplace: ERCST offices are located in the EU quarter of Brussels, easily accessible by public transport.
