The Permanent Representation of Denmark to the EU takes care of Denmark’s interests in the European Union. We are the eyes, the ears and the voice in relation to the European Commission and the European Parliament and promote Danish interests in the negotiations with the other member states in the Council of the European Union. We represent Denmark in the various working groups of the Council and in the Permanent Representatives Committee called COREPER. We also assist Danish ministers participating in Council meetings and in summits for the heads of state and government. Our negotiating positions are decided in Copenhagen by the Government and presented to the European Affairs Committee in the Danish Parliament before we or our visiting ministers can vote yes or no in Brussels. Since the EU includes many different questions we are a very composed Representation with posted employees from all Danish Ministries except from the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs. At the same time we are the largest Danish Representation abroad with a total of 86 employees, of this 47 are posted from Copenhagen. The management of the Representation consists, besides me, of two more ambassadors, Mr Per Fabricius Andersen, Deputy Permanent Representative, and Mr Lars Bo Larsen, Denmark’s Representative in the Political and Security Committee. If you would like to know more about the work of the Danish Representation to the EU you are most welcome to contact us. Visiting groups are very welcome.
