The EU is represented in the United States by the Washington, DC Delegation of the European Union, which works in close coordination with the Embassies and Consulates of the 28 EU Member States. We are a full-fledged diplomatic mission and represent the European Union in dealings with the U.S. government in areas that are part of the EU’s remit. We promote EU policies in the United States, which includes presenting and explaining EU actions to the U.S. Administration and Congress. By engaging with political actors, the media, academia, business, and civil society, we raise awareness of EU issues and concerns, and promote the importance of the EU-U.S. relationship among the American public. We also analyze and report on the political, social, and economic situation in the U.S. to our headquarters in Brussels. Since 1964, the EU has also maintained an office in New York, which now serves as the EU’s Delegation to the United Nations.
