Things I liked most:
The internship at acumen public affairs is a great stepping stone into the European policy-making/business arena. Due to the nature of the work done for clients, I feel like I have a much stronger grasp of European regulations and their impact on market risks for multinational businesses, an understanding which will likely serve interns well in the public and private sectors alike. As the only intern in the office, there are many opportunities to work directly with the account managers and partners, who are quite seasoned professionals in their field. It was particularly valuable to learn how to package policy research into a sell-able tool for clients (e.g. benchmarks, SWOTs, etc). Above all, I appreciated that I learned these lessons mainly by doing, through immediate integration with the rest of the team.
Things I liked most:
I have some professional experience and I felt that my employers really appreciated and respected this, giving me tasks that reflected my skills and experience.
Things I liked most:
My experience working at acumen public affairs was extremely positive under both a professional and a personal point of view. I had abundant exposure to the work of a successful lobbying company, taking active part in it and having the opportunity to learn from the more experienced colleagues. I would warmly recommend interning at acumen to anyone interested in learning how to work in a lobbying and public affairs company in Brussels.
Things I liked most:
Exciting and interesting clients.
Things could have been better:
Stressful environment, too much focus on profit.
