Want to be part of ridding the world of useless plastic? We advocated for the EU to adopt world-leading legislation and now we need an enthusiastic lawyer with a strong background on corporate or financial services or environmental litigation to help enforce that legislation and undertake other cases and projects as part of our plastics team within ClientEarth’s unique Oceans Programme.

This position will use your expertise to support and implement strategic legal interventions, including pushing for legislative change and policy development and instigating litigation at national level, with the goal of reducing the production and unnecessary use of plastic. These interventions will include using corporate and financial laws to drive greater integration of plastic-related financial risks into the management and disclosure decisions of companies and influential actors in the financial sector. We hope to make history by making producers pay for the real cost of plastic.

Role requirements

  • Law degree
  • A demonstrated track record in law (preferably in an EU Member State or at EU level) and of contribution to strategic legal thinking, advocacy and creative problem solving
  • An interest and understanding of issues related to plastic pollution
  • Demonstrated track record of network and relationship development and engaging with wide variety of external stakeholders
  • Fluent in English
