Tourism Assistant Project Officer
Starting salary £25,238 per annum
Based at Penstock Hall Farm
37 hours per week
Fixed Term Full Time until 31 March 2023
EXPERIENCE is an exciting €23 million tourism project funded by the Interreg V Channel England France Programme European Regional Development Fund. Kent County Council is one of 14 partners in France and England. The project will work with businesses and partners to develop new off-season tourism products that engage visitors in the landscape in a way that supports and enhances that landscape. EXPERIENCE will promote new experiential tourism products through tourism fairs, media and communication campaigns.
You will work in a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary team of five as part of the wider Kent Downs AONB Unit to ensure the successful integrated delivery of the EXPERIENCE project. You will assist the Project Manager and project team to deliver and coordinate the EXPERIENCE project. This is an exciting and varied role and you will be involved in project development, monitoring, communication, marketing, evaluation and reporting.
You will have specific responsibility for project reporting and claims and a number of discrete tourism projects. You will also be responsible for assisting deliver partners to adhere to EU funding requirements. You will assist the Project Manager with project evaluation. You will work closely with the communications and business roles to assist in the development and communication of new tourism product. You will also assist the Project Manager with the delivery of other European funded projects such as the Green Pilgrimage Project which promotes economic growth via long distance walking trails.
If you are an experienced project manager and are passionate about rural active tourism, then you may be the person to fill this pivotal role in our multi-disciplinary team.
Based in a beautiful converted barn in the heart of the Kent Downs in East Kent, the role will involve frequent travel in the project pilot regions which are Brittany, Pas-de-Calais, and Compiegne in France and Norfolk, Kent, and Cornwall in the UK.
