MGR Human Resources Ltd, member of MAP S.Platis Group of Companies, is a leading, broad HR Consulting, Training, Recruitment and Temporary Placements Agency. We are looking to hire an Information Provision for the European Asylum Support Office to be based in Malta.

The position

The successful candidate will work on a secondment basis for the awarded contract for the Provision of Interim Services to the European Asylum Support Office (EASO). EASO is an EU Regulatory Agency headquartered in Malta whose mandate is to strengthen EU Member States’ practical cooperation on asylum, to support Member States whose asylum systems are under particular pressure and to enhance the implementation of the Common European Asylum System.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected, amongst other, to perform some or all of the following tasks:

  • To support AWAS in their responsibility to inform asylum seekers on rights, obligations, procedures.
  • Interact daily with international protection applicants to support the information provision on reception and asylum procedures, directly or via interpreters, about their rights and obligations, and facilitate the replies to their questions;
  • Ensure adequate follow-up and monitoring of complex individual/collective queries;
  • Liaise with info point focal point to refer clients to relevant services, as appropriate;
  • Coordinate and communicate with other members of staff as necessary, and regularly consult with relevant colleagues to ensure accuracy of the information provided;
  • Consult with AWAS Unit Leader in resolving issues and problems which are of a sensitive and/or strategic nature;
  • Research on new developments in the area of the welfare of asylum seekers in Malta, available mainstream services and projects;
  • Support the development of guidelines, standard operating procedures, information packages, templates and tools;
  • Draft documents, templates, statistics, minutes and reports;
  • Participate in AWAS MAU meetings or other requested meetings;
  • Participate in meetings organised by the EASO Measure coordinator or Field Coordination Support Officer;
  • Attend requested trainings;
  • Ensure legislation, national standards and guidelines are being followed;
  • Keep up to date with the latest projects and initiatives undertaken by AWAS and by EASO;
  • Perform all tasks in coordination and cooperation with the National Authorities and with EASO Measure Coordinator and Field Coordination Support Officer;
  • Report on a regular basis, as per National and per EASO reporting systems;
  • Perform other job-related duties as necessary or as assigned by the National Reception authority and/or the EASO Field Coordination Support Officer and the Measure Coordinator.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in relevant fields (preferably Political science, Social Science, International Relations, International Law) is advantageous;
  • Good knowledge of the legal international & European framework regarding international protection and the Common European Asylum System;
  • Proven experience in conducting research, including desk-based research, related to topics in the field of international protection for various projects, drafting reports, collection of background material;
  • Proven field experience in the context of asylum and/or migration;
  • Demonstrated previous experience working with vulnerable groups in the context of asylum and/or migration will be considered advantageous;
  • Good understanding of the Maltese asylum and reception context will be considered advantageous;
  • Good intercultural and communication skills and cultural awareness;
  • Fluent in English (oral and written);
  • Being flexible and able to work in different settings with capability to work in multi-disciplinary teams in a multi-cultural environment;
  • Being able to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
  • Computer literate, including MS Office applications (Word, Excel), excellent use of internet and particularly web-based applications and search engines.

Remuneration

The position falls in hierarchical Category II and the associated salary is €23,786.52 gross annually in twelve monthly installments.
