The European Society of Cardiology seeks applications to fill in the position of Senior EU Projects Officer to coordinate and manage EU research projects funded under Horizon 2020 and in the future Horizon Europe.

We are seeking highly motivated individuals who are passionate about the EU Research & Innovation Programme and looking to work and make a difference for better health and patient healthcare through the implementation of European collaborative research projects.

Position description:

The Senior EU Projects Officer will be responsible for the daily coordination of minimum one H2020 funded project and the management of other EU funded projects.

The Senior EU Projects Officerwill work in the ESC Brussels Office, reporting to the EU Projects Manager. He/She will supervise the work of two EU Projects Officers.

The Senior EU Projects Officer will play a pivotal liaison role with all internal and external stakeholders involved in the EU project(s) and be responsible for the smooth implementation of the project(s).

The tasks include but are not limited to:

Project Management related tasks

· Lead the coordination and implementation of H2020 projects according to the annual project work plan.

· Ensure timely delivery of project’s materials and deliverables, tracking and reporting on project progress, reporting on results and feedback from the European Commission.

· Support the Principal Investigator and the EU Projects Manager in the production of technical project(s) reports.

· Maintain good track of the project documentation in case of auditing.

  • Coordinate the various activities of the projects within the allocated budget and timelines with the respective internal Business Units and Principal Investigators, making sure that deadlines are met.
  • Draft reports, deliverables (related to management and dissemination), minutes, presentations, and other communication materials.

· Support the Principal Investigator in liaising with the project consortium and other key stakeholders.

· Set up monthly calls, plan and organise project meetings with support from the administrative officer.

· Identify collaborative opportunities with external stakeholders to maximise outcomes and to build strategic partnerships accordingly.

· Active contribution to other day-to-day operations of the projects.

Communication & dissemination tasks

In conjunction with the ESC Communication team, support the creation of a range of dedicated tools and tactics to disseminate the projects outcomes and deliverables, including:

· Develop and deliver dissemination strategies.

· Plan and deliver workshops and events.

· Ensure visibility of the project(s) in various newsletters/bulletins, twitters, press.

  • Support the preparation, management and regular update of the project website, database, project newsletter and mailing lists.

· Regular reporting of activities to the assigned European Commission project officer.

Requirements

Hardskills:

  • At least five years’ relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in post-award management of H2020 projects. Preference for candidates with experience in coordinating Horizon 2020 large collaborative research and innovation projects.
  • Knowledge of H2020 procedures and experience in project planning and delivery is a must.
  • Knowledge of general accounting, cost controlling and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience in health sector is preferable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office required).
  • University degree.

  • Diplomatic, with strong communication and engagement skills.
  • Ability to write concisely and persuasively.
