The EPC is looking for a Policy Analyst (PA) to join its Social Europe & Well-Being Programme, to work especially on topics related to the EU employment and social policies, starting preferably in September-October 2020.

The successful candidate should have a solid academic background, a good understanding of EU institutions, experience in organising policy debates, as well as knowledge on and a good understanding of past and current developments in EU social policies as well as the social dimension of EU policies and its governance mechanisms.

The candidate should have the following profile:

  • University degree in a relevant subject;
  • At least three years of relevant work experience (other than internships), including in policy analysis;
  • Demonstrated ability to research, write and present high-quality policy analysis;
  • Strong interest in European affairs and commitment to European integration, especially in the social area;
  • A good understanding of the EU legislative process, funding instruments and governance aspects;
  • A good understanding of some/all of the relevant policy areas: skills, social protection, public services, social dialogue, labour market policies, social innovation, inequalities, the future of work, and social investment;
  • Excellent communication and social skills (oral and written);
  • Ability to engage and network with experts and interested stakeholders;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Dynamic, flexible, reliable and attentive to detail;
  • Fluent in English.

The main duties are:

  • Implementation & coordination of the EPC’s activities on at least some/all of the following policy areas: Housing Task Force, the role of public services in implementing the European Pillar of Social Rights, fair transition, energy poverty, and the distributional impact of COVID19 on the EU, in particular with respect to labour markets as well as contributing to research and organisation of the Social Europe & Well-being Programme;
  • Research and writing policy analyses;
  • Overseeing/organising and moderating events (drafting event proposals, invitations and programmes, identifying and contacting speakers);
  • Liaising with external experts and interested stakeholders, as well as building and maintaining a network;
  • Supporting/leading fundraising activities for the Programme in the relevant policy areas;
  • Producing new ideas and taking initiative on projects and activities.
